Creating the ideal personalised sideboard

Choosing the exterior dimensions

We offer sideboards with maximum dimensions of 300 cm x 600 cm x 60 cm (HxWxD) with the height including a plinth base or feet. If you plan to fit your furniture piece into a niche, please consider the following distances for easy installation:

A material thickness of 2 cm: 3 cm on each side.
A material thickness of 3 cm: 4 cm on each side.

You can find further information at Service -> correct measurement.

Selecting the materials

When ordering with Pickawood, you can also benefit from our large selection of materials for made-to-measure sideboards. You can combine materials by choosing different surfaces for your fronts and external structure. With a click on your chosen material, you can also decide on different treatments for the surface.

You can find more information under Service -> Materials.

Determining the material thickness

The most frequently ordered material thickness is approx. 1.8 cm to 2.0 cm. However, we also offer made-to-measure sideboards in thicknesses of 2.8 cm to 3.0 cm. As an additional option, you can also choose a mixture of both thicknesses.

Adjusting the feet or plinth

We offer a wide range of metal, steel and wooden feet for sideboards. The required (minimum) dimensions are displayed as soon as you move the mouse over each option. In addition to feet and frames, we also offer sideboards on castors for a flexible solution. If you configure your custom-made furniture piece without feet or a plinth, you can also plan a hanging sideboard.

Planning for columns

You can plan your sideboard to include 2 or more columns. Simply use the slider to determine the number of columns you want. You can set the individual width of each column in the 3D model.

Designing your compartments

You can adjust each shelving compartment of your made-to-measure sideboard to service your individual storage needs. In Step 6, either use your mouse to drag the desired compartment up or down to the correct height and size or enter the specific height in the relevant input field.

Adding doors & drawers

In Step 7, you can arrange where doors and drawers will fit on your sideboard. To do this, click on the desired compartment and select your desired door or drawer type. The door and drawer panels have a material thickness of 2 cm and can be set as an external or internal feature. For external fronts, the depth of your product increases by 2 cm. In some cases, the panels are manufactured with a stabilizing strip to prevent the wood from warping. It is also possible to select doors for multiple compartments. To do this, drag the mouse button over the desired compartments and select your chosen door type.

Extra features and special requests

You can choose from a range of exclusive features to personalise your sideboard further, including mounting hole strips, rear wall panels or skirting board cut-outs. In addition, we can also implement other special requests, to ensure your sideboard meets your needs and compliments your living or workspace. Please do not hesitate to contact our specialist furniture consultants, who will provide expert assistance.

Sideboards in detail

Top and bottom board divisions

Sideboards that are longer than 300 cm (solid wood), 275 cm (MDF, real wood veneer & decors) or 245 cm (multiplex) must be divided to ensure maximum functionality. We will be happy to divide the top and bottom boards according to your specifications on request. Alternatively, we will manufacture with a divide the sideboard that supports construction and provides the best support for your product.

Back wall panels

Your custom-made sideboard can be fitted with solid back wall panels or back panels made of real wood veneer on request. Alternatively, the back panels are fitted with 0.3 cm thick HDF boards as standard. If you would like to order a sideboard with a back wall panel, the depth will be reduced by approx. 1.9 cm.

We offer a variety of options to provide your made-to-measure sideboard with a solid foundation. Our premium quality sideboards can be manufactured with metal or wooden feet, which are stable and robust. Alternatively, you can also configure a custom-made cabinet with a plinth base, or for a sleek,  modern look you can mount your product to the wall to create a floating effect.

We now offer 2 distinctive steel frame bases for our custom sideboards. Both options are available in iron, raw steel and in a black or white coated finish. For a sideboard with an industrial look, a raw steel frame is a good choice.

If you choose to fit your bespoke sideboard with doors they will come with our "push-to-open" door technology as standard. This is a particularly popular option for an elegant and subtle aesthetic. A simple push will activate the function gently, giving full access to your stored items. Alternatively, we offer an exquisite range of handles, which will complement the doors and drawers of any unique sideboard design.

Storage dimensions

Compartment depths:
With an inner front, the interior usable depth is reduced by approx. 2.0 cm. If you choose to integrate a rear back wall, the interior usable depth is reduced by 1.9 cm

Standard dimensions:
A4 folder (WxHxD): 29.0 cm × 32.0 cm × 8.0 cm
CD case (WxHxD): 14.2 cm x 12.5 cm x 1.0 cm
Blu-ray case (WxHxD): 13.5 cm x 17.0 cm x 1.4 cm
DVD case (WxHxD): 13.5 cm x 19.0 cm x 1.5 cm

Skirting board cut-outs

If a skirting board rail exists in your living space, integrating a skirting board cut-out into your sideboard will ensure that your furniture piece can rest perfectly against your wall. The baseboard of your sideboard will adapt to incorporate this feature.

Hanging sideboards

We can easily produce your sideboard as a floating storage unit. You can simply select the "Wall mount (floating)" option in the final step of the sideboard configurator.  If you activate this option, high-quality wall brackets are installed in the vertical compartments, which distribute and support the weight of your furniture piece. We recommend hanging sideboards only for solid walls.

TV furniture

Our custom sideboards quite often feature as TV furniture. For this reason, we offer numerous options to turn your sideboard into a fully-fledged entertainment system. For example, you can integrate cable outlets into your furniture piece to house your electronic devices. Simply select the special request option in the first step of the shopping basket and inform our specialist furniture consultants of your requirements.

Mounting hole strips

We offer flexible shelving compartments for your sideboard, meaning that your shelves can be adapted to changing storage demands at a later date. Opt for a mounting hole strip to bring greater versatility to your product. Please note that a single row of shelves will be fixed to ensure the stability of your sideboard.
